Rye has introduced a new AI-based tourist information service featuring Captain Pugwash, aimed at revitalizing its visitor economy after the closure of its physical info centre. The AI tool, built on GuideGeek by Matador Network, provides real-time, personalized travel tips via QR codes and WhatsApp, connecting visitors to local businesses and activities. This innovative solution is part of Rye's efforts to leverage technology to enhance tourism and was funded through Levelling Up grants from the UK government.
